Ambulance

Bay Area Medical Center provides two Paramedic-level teams who are available to respond to the needs of the community day or night. Our ambulance service operates four transporting ambulances and a quick response vehicle used to provide advanced lifeAmbulance support (ALS) intercept services to outlying EMS agencies. Bay Area Medical Center’s primary service area for 911 responses includes the Cities of Marinette and Peshtigo, WI and Menominee, MI as well as portions of the surrounding townships.

  • 911 Response
  • Critical Care Interfacility Transports
    • Our Ambulance Service transports critically ill and injured patients from Bay Area Medical Center to specialty centers. The Critical Care service allows for patients to continue receiving many of the treatments which were started in the Emergency Department.
  • Paramedic Intercepts
    • Bringing Advanced Life Support to the rural areas of Marinette, Menominee, and Oconto Counties.
  • When not on ambulance calls, ambulance staff assist other caregivers in the Emergency Department

What is an EMT?

An Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) is an individual that is trained and licensed to provide basic life support (BLS) in the pre-hospital environment. EMTs have the skills to respond to many common emergencies with medication, breathing assistance, and trauma support.Ambulance

What is a Paramedic?

A Paramedic is trained and licensed to provide Advanced Life Support (ALS) allowing for the treatment of more complex illnesses and injuries in the pre-hospital environment. Paramedics have the ability to perform advanced assessments, administer a broad range of medications, and perform a number of pre-hospital procedures such as IVs, EKGs, and intubation. Our goal is to bring many of the treatments that would be received in an Emergency Department to the scene of an emergency and begin treatment as soon as possible.Paramedic Patch

When Calling 911

  • The 911 dispatcher will verify your name, phone number and the location you are calling from.
  • Make sure your house number or fire number is visible from the roadway.
  • Have the patient's medications (both prescription and non-prescription) available to be transported with the patient to Bay Area Medical Center. Our staff will need the original medication bottles or a medication list that includes the name of the medication, dosage, and how frequently it is taken.
  • Please secure pets in another room for everyone's safety.
  • Turn on porch light at night.
  • If there is someone available, it is helpful to have a person stand at the roadway to direct the ambulance.
