- Diagnostic Imaging provides high-quality, diagnostic procedures in a friendly, professional and efficient manner.
- The department is challenged on a daily basis to provide expedient services and high quality exams while remaining professional and courteous towards every patient. They are expected to meet budget projections and to support both the physicians and ED.
- Within the last year, Diagnostic Imaging has strived to have consistent report turnaround times exceeding 95% within 24 hours. In October of 2007 they also implemented “Same Day Mammography” services where the patient’s mammogram and any additional testing (if necessary) will be done on the same day in most cases. The patient is informed of their results before they leave the hospital. There is also a person who functions as the “Breast Health Navigator” and is responsible for making arrangements for further testing or physician consultations if appropriate.
- Diagnostic Imaging, which includes X-ray, U/S, Nuclear Medicine, Women’s Health, MRI, CT and PET/CT, consists of 53 employees. The department also has an additional 4 student-employees.
- The staff is the greatest strength of the department; they are 100% dedicated to providing focused, personalized patient-care. There is an understanding amongst the department that the competitive edge is not always technology but service oriented.
- Throughout the organization, Diagnostic Imaging is very well respected. There is an actualization among Diagnostic Imaging and the other departments at BAMC that all employees are working towards a common goal – excellent patient care.
- The current annual operating budget of Diagnostic Imaging is approximately 4.8 million dollars.
- The department has a 16 Slice CT, Digital Radiology, PET/CT (Mobile), BMD for assessment for osteoporosis, 2 Nuclear Medicine Cameras, 4 Ultrasound units, and State of the Art MRI scanner that was upgraded in May of 2008. In addition the department will implement digital mammography in July of 2008.
- Diagnostic Imaging also implemented a PACS (Picture, Archival and Communication) system in July of 2007 in which images are viewable via a computer either on site or via the Internet. This enables your physician to review the images and reports at their offices or homes if necessary.
- The Radiologists who interpret the procedures are Green Bay Radiology, SC and are a group of 19 specialists who also provide services to St. Vincent’s, St. Mary’s and the Prevea Clinics in Green Bay, in addition to St. Nicholas’s hospital in Sheboygan. Many of them have completed fellowships in specialized areas and offer expertise that is only found in larger medical facilities.
