What is an EMT?

An emergency medical technician (EMT) is trained and licensed to provide basic life support in the pre-hospital environment. EMTs have the skills to respond to many common emergencies with medication, breathing assistance and trauma support.

EMT certifications

  • State of Wisconsin licensure.
  • State of Michigan licensure.
  • Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR).
  • Emergency vehicle operation.

What is a paramedic?

A paramedic is trained and licensed to provide advanced life support, allowing for treatment of more complex illnesses and injuries in the pre-hospital environment. Paramedics have the ability to perform advanced assessments; administer a broad range of medications; and perform a number of pre-hospital procedures, such as IVs, EKGs and intubation. Our goal is to bring many of the treatments that would be received in an emergency department to the scene of an emergency and begin treatment as soon as possible.

  • Advanced cardiac life support (ACLS).
  • International trauma life support (ITLS).
