Women have unique reproductive health needs.
Bay Area Medical Center (BAMC) has a team of experts who are specially trained in taking care of these needs.
If you have a reproductive health concern, you can trust our team to deliver the care you need with compassion and discretion. Our goal is to improve your quality of life and help you return to activities that are important to your overall well-being.
Our services include therapy for pain related to pregnancy and delivery, as well as pelvic pain that may have other causes.
Pregnancy and postpartum-related pain rehabilitation
Pregnancy is a time of change in your body, but it doesn't have to be a time of pain.
If you're experiencing pain during pregnancy or postpartum pain, we can help.
After assessing the cause of your pain, our physical therapists will prescribe a course of treatment that is designed just for your needs. Treatments may include exercise, manual therapy, body mechanics training, bracing and education
Pelvic pain and dyspareunia
Pelvic pain can make it difficult to go about your day-to-day life. It can also make sex painful—a condition known as dyspareunia.
Fortunately, there are treatments that can help.
We have a female physical therapist on staff who has specialized training in helping women who have pelvic pain.
The process starts with a detailed assessment of your symptoms and long-term goals for treatment.
Based on that assessment, your physical therapist will recommend a treatment approach that will help decrease pelvic pain, strengthen pelvic muscles, and provide flexibility training to pelvic floor and hip muscles. She will also work with you to help with any concerns related to intimacy.
Treatments may include manual therapy, stretching, strengthening, biofeedback and education about lifestyle changes.
