Women's rehabilitation

Women have unique medical concerns, and the Bay Area Medical Center's (BAMC) rehabilitation program is equipped to offer women a number of different services to help meet their specific needs. Many disorders that women face are under-reported, under-diagnosed and under-treated. While these conditions are common, they do not need to be a normal part of aging.

Pregnancy and postpartum-related pain rehabilitation

Many women experience pain as a result of pregnancy, labor and delivery. Our clinicians can help reduce pain and improve function both during pregnancy and in the post-partum period through exercise, manual therapy, body mechanics training, bracing and education.

Pelvic pain

Pelvic pain can limit normal function, including sexual intercourse. A physical therapist with specialized training will first assess the cause of pain. Based on your symptoms and long-term goals, she will recommend a treatment approach to decrease discomfort, strengthen pelvic muscles, provide flexibility training to pelvic floor and hip muscles, and address concerns related to issues of intimacy. Therapeutic techniques may include manual therapy, stretching, strengthening, biofeedback and education about lifestyle changes.

BAMC's physical therapist, with advanced training in women's health rehabilitation, provides services in a compassionate and discrete setting. Let us help you improve your quality of life and return to activities that are important to your overall well-being.
